Tara is the Global VP of ESG at Alltech, where she focuses on the economic, environmental, and social aspects of the planet's well-being. With over 25 years of experience in the food industry, Tara is passionate about sustainably produced food and has led various initiatives to promote partnerships and capability development within the industry. Prior to joining Alltech in 2022, Tara held leadership positions in organizations such as Bord Bia, the Irish Food Board, and Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland's seafood development agency. In 2019, she co-founded Agdif, an initiative promoting diversity in the Irish food industry. Tara has also spoken extensively about Ireland's national sustainability program, Origin Green, and played a key role in establishing the Origin Green Global Council in 2021. McCarthy's contributions have been recognized with several awards, including a Fellowship of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and being named one of Ireland's Top 25 Most Powerful Women in the Public Sector Leaders. She has received Alumna of the Year honours from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2017 and the University College Dublin Michael Smurfit Business School in 2019.
