David Macdonald is Head of Ventures at AgriZeroNZ where he is responsible for the investments and portfolio management of the $191m venture fund. The fund is focused on low GHG emission on-farm technology. Investment thesis includes the option of equity, debt or project financing into domestic and international markets throughout a range of business stages. David joined from Fonterra where he was the M&A Manager responsible for the full deal process on national and international brands and assets. A further key focus of Davids's was leading the investments into new sustainability focused technologies. Originally a structural engineer, David has developed extensive experience in the agriculture and finance industry having worked at Fonterra for the previous 11 years. David's previous roles also included running Fonterra's USD 1 bn Protein business and Portfolio Manager for Fonterra's Financial Trading Portfolio.
